Cosworth Ltd. and Pi Group Ltd. Accelerates
the Implementation of SAP with CIBER UK’s mySAP All-in-One Solution
Hinckley, UK - July 5, 2005 - Cosworth Ltd and Pi Group Ltd
will introduce CIBER’s mySAP All-in-One solution to drive efficiencies
throughout their businesses, with support for 650 users across sites
in Northampton, Cambridge and the United States. The Pi Group of companies
is comprised of Pi Research, manufacturers of high-performance electronics
for the motorsport and related markets and Pi Technology, a professional
services-based project business, focused on the design and development
of electronic systems.
Cosworth have previously been operating an ageing disparate MRP solution
with a myriad of bespoke products and proprietary software applications.
The systems were not intuitive and based on old fashioned technologies
– many were not Windows based – also, they were not dynamic and did
not provide data in real time. Jeremy Hill, Head of Business Systems
comments “Accessing information was a real challenge with masses of
information held in data stores that provided limited intelligence.
It was also widely acknowledged that the lack of integrated systems
would not support the evolving needs of the business.”
The mySAP All-in-One solution will replace and embrace the current
Cosworth and Pi systems, providing a mass rationalisation of the existing
standalone systems to provide a single integrated enterprise-wide
solution, covering Sales & Marketing, Finance & Commercial, Engineering
& PDM, Projects, Planning & Production, Logistics, Procurement, Closed
Loop Quality, Documents Management, CAD integration, Business Intelligence
and HR.
Jeremy comments “The key business challenges facing Cosworth and

with improved planning and reporting.” Cosworth is a well known supplier
to the Formula One program, supplying engines for both Red Bull Racing
and Minardi, but they have big ambitions to diversify the business
interests away from purely race engines and have identified internet
selling of performance parts as one area of opportunity that they

Cosworth and Pi decided on the most appropriate solution for their
business after initially arriving at a short list of five different
ERP vendors and a detailed scoping exercise conducted on three. The
options considered included SAP and a range of other competitive ERP
products. Jeremy Hill comments “Many parts of the enterprise are engineering
driven and a key factor in our decision was to choose a business system
that included PLM (with CAD integration) as a core business process.
We chose SAP because of the depth and breadth of the functionality
